This is part of their <I>People of Minnesota</I> series. I will need historical photos for the book. Does anyone have any I could use? I have a lot of modern day photos since 1997. They have a strict format to follow so at this time, I am not sure if my research is what they will want to use. If it is not, I will follow through with my original plans for a book. S.</st1:place></st1:country-region> it would be a tragedy of major proportions if this celebration were not to continue. Fire was the earthly symbol associated with Belenos so it was thought by many academics that this was the origin of Beallthainn (“Bright Fire”) or the more modern spelling - Beltane. Others dispute this interpretation and believe that it was solely connected with the sun worship of the Druids, a bright fire in honor of the return of the sun and a festival for fertility to encourage the crops to grow and the cattle to thrive. Sun and fire were sacred to the Druids who worshipped the sun by sacrificing animals and humans to this god. They believed in the power of fire to cleanse and to give protection from evil.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>

We were honored to have our 2<SUP>nd</SUP> Annual Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Florence Hart, with us as well as representatives from many organizations, dancers, and the wonderful Macalester Pipe Band.
